well, i broke down and read this series over the past few days. its good easy reading, and i was suprised by how well Rowling draws you into these characters lives. Overall i found it to be very plot oriented, she does not waste words on description, and there is definitely a great flow to her work. The characters develop so well over the 6 books, and i found myself wanting to throttle harry in book 5. i took this as a very good thing, as she doesn't make the mistake of having the main character be perfect. The side characters are very well done as well, and you see the growth in each of them. This is one of the few novel series where the movies do the books justice. yes, there are certain omissions and other scenes have multiple chapters condenced into them, but there is never a glaring omission to date. (book 5 will have to be condenced more than any other, but thats just due to its size...) i'm eagerly awaiting the final installment of this series, and i think that this is one of the few fantasy series that iv'e read that hasn't lost steam... Hwar! I just finished the latest book: the Half Blood Prince! And man I cried at the end! But Im gonna have to pointedly as arguments go that the books where much better then the Movies. I found it to be a deviation from the books way too much and me personally they could have done a much better job trying to bring everything in the books together. Overall it was okay. I would have to say that the best movie thus far was either the Sorcers Stone or the Prisioner of Azkaban. I only caught part of the Goblet of Fire...so I cant formulate too much of an opinion in that section.

Something I did forget to mention: July 13th 2007 which is on a Friday: Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix comes out to the big screen. This should prove most interesting to see how the movie fairs.

The movie will do well in the box office, but it will be forced to deviate from the book for many reasons. (most of all the length of the book would make it a 6 hour movie, which i don't mind but hollywood does for some reason... : i do look forward to the end confrontation though, should be visually impressive and quite suspenseful... yes, the end of half blood prince is very depressing, and i'm not looking forward to the final novel as much as i was the 6th year book... the way i see it there is realistically just no possible way for harry to come out on top at this point. if he can't even handle Snape how could he think of fighting Voldemort? he gets out of every other encounter because of someone saving him... he's all out of saviors, but i highly doubt that he doesn't defeat the Dark Lord in the end of the series... the Hero always has to win, but i don't think that Harry was studious enough nor is he strong enough to deal with those who oppose him... we'll see... i think this book is supposed to be out before the next film oh, and Goblet was a dreadful representation of the novel... great movie, but the book goes into such depth that a movie just cannot compare...

I cried too. I like the series, and seperate them a little in my mind as seperate series. I enjoy the books more of course.

Harry Potter rules! I'm anticipating the 7th book more than my own graduation.
