where to start...
well, personally i didn't know either candidate a year ago. i've done some research into both at this point and here is what i've learned.
Biden - the more i hear him the more i like him. He reminds me of my grandfather, a quiet man who was willing to listen, but would tell you what he thinks when the time came. He knows the time to use harsh language, and the time to stand up for what you believe in. He is the type of person that would be there when you need it, a steadying force providing thought, yet an impulsiveness that can spur those around him to greater heights. i understand why Obama chose him for the VP, because the vision of America that Obama sees is reflected in Biden's actions.
Palin - still a mystery. the rumors are not painting a good picture to me though. her speech tonight should outline who and what she is tonight. i'll give my opinions after seeing her speech, because to do so at this time would be unfair.
Edit: Very charismatic, forceful, and direct. there were alot of things that she said that i found truth in, but there were alot of bad arguments that she was making. Her all out attack was well formed, but alot of the conclusions were not supported as strongly as they needed to be. Some of the attacks were low blows for someone who is whining about the criticism of them.
she is the type of speaker that can strike a chord with the christian conservatives, and that is really what McCain's ticket needed.
Palin might have made a slight mistake in criticizing the community organizers, because without those positions many people in this country would suffer. there are many who perform that type of work and make it so families can make it through. her stance led to an elitist perspective, that those who get into local politics and make their own machine are better than the common person.
i think that we will have a very interesting VP debate.
