The Democrats have the votes to get it done; they should ban all other political parties.

horrible idea and unconstitutional as well. would violate the 1st amendment right to assembly.
what i think we need is less reliance on political party, and more rigorous standards for our elected officials when we vote for them. its easy to see those who vote down party lines, and that habit of the electorate has ensured many of our current reps and senators an easy path to reelection. i dont' think that most of our representatives deserve to still be in washington, and it is time that we started getting new faces, new ideas, and new politics in our capital.
to show that no one is above the law, anyone in federal government convicted of corruption is hung as a traitor to the people they are supposed to serve (let them plea bargain down to 10 years in prison, maybe then we'll see some corrections system reform). anyone caught in sex scandals are removed from office and can never hold public office again. anyone caught in other shady dealings can have the same penalty. oh yeah, they lose all benefits of being a federal official as well, bye bye health care plan, pension, and all the other perks that they have created for their elitist club...
the only way to ensure elected officials follow the law is to have harsher penalties for them breaking laws.
thought for the day: our economy is tanking, but the black market seems to be doing just fine. perhaps it is time to have the U.S. look into decriminalizing and legalizing Marijuana, which would create a new sector in our economy if done properly and corporations were barred from participation. have it be a completely mom and pop shop style business model, with about 50% tax rate. studies have shown that 40-50% of americans are in favor of decriminalization, and the revenues that the government could potentially make through taxes would help to fund health care reform and drug rehabilitation centers. by changing the status of pot to a legal substance, the status of it as a gateway drug would change because right now the stigma is the same for pot as it is for crack, heroin, and amphetamines. This would also reduce the strain our prison system is currently putting onto our federal budget, housing people who's only crime was offering a service to those who desired it, capitalism at its finest...
