And his plan does nothing to address the crux of the problem, Fannie and Freddie.
To some out there, Bo took a mighty swing and the ball is in the outfield stands, to me, Bo took a mighty swing, and the ball is in the catchers mitt.
Cicero (Sent Friday, June 19, 2009 10:32 AM) ************************************************** The tired fannie and freddy angle again eh? if you want the crux of the problem, it was the credit default swaps and derivitaves that companies like FM FM AIG were able to buy that couldn't be regulated that were the issue. Some genius figured that by moving this pile of paper into this document we can make more money, and then sold their new document to the highest bidder with no regard to financial stability or integrity.
lack of regulation or lack of knowledge how to regulate this market was the crux of the financial meltdown. not FM/FM/AIG/citi/any company. it was the new tool on the table that wasn't tested and true...

It's time to learn a lesson from Iran. How about we take a break from sitting on our asses watching washed up celebrities eat bugs and hit the streets for what we believe in.
I work in the wine industry but I am also an active musician. I for one am going to use that platform this weekend at a couple gigs to start to organize a health care revolution. In fact I have heard that Senator Patty Murray herself will be at the gig I am playing Sunday to benefit Fred Hutchinson cancer center. I think her and I need to have a little talk!
Mark,Seattle (Sent Friday, June 19, 2009 1:34 PM) **************************************************** i wholeheartedly agree, and this is the reason that i'm currently working on getting on the ballot for congress in my district as an independent. (do you realize how hard the two parties have made it for independent/3rd party candidates to even get on the ballot? just getting the information i need on the legal logistics has proven to be a nightmare...)
Apathy: the word that describes the populous' attitude towards politics for the past 30 years. it is this cause that has allowed our elected officials to sell us out to the highest bidder (Insurance and Oil lobby) for their own profit, and they still get reelected because of the incumbent advantage. utterly disgusting to me how service to the people has only shown benefits to these 'servants'.
Use any platform you can get to promote what is right. Call out those dealing with misinformation and spin, and take this country back from the power elite that has become complacent while the majority of this county's citizens suffer.

Getting people to agree on a generality is easy-it's the particulars that get sticky. Try this-stop asking 'who wants dessert', and ask, instead, 'who wants stewed prunes'.
no joe, no bo, nj (Sent Friday, June 19, 2009 1:55 PM) ***************************************************** another great false analogy from the republican intelligencia of this site. you absolutely fail at forming logical arguments.
This is only about money because the current model involves companies trying to make profit off people being sick and needing health care. your constant threats of "higher taxes" doesn't mean diddly squat to someone who just declared bankruptcy because of the medical costs treating cancer, auto accidents, or any other disease may incur.
Scrap the current model and start from scratch. there is no reason to reward selfishness when the well being of our fellow citizens is the stake. (you can ignore that no joe no bo, we know you don't give a damn about anyone but your own, and your self centered posts today have proven that. There are those of us who feel it is our responsibility to take care of our neighbors, and the switch to your point of view is one of the fundamental flaws in this society; the society of greed and self interest taken to absurdity).
The insurance companies of today serve no public interest, yet we have no CHOICE but to pay for their services in the slim possibility of our children getting sick, or our spouse, or ourselves. This provides a situation where there is no competition, and therefore no free market. Insurance is mainly offered through employment, and many jobs are cutting that as a means of making their bottom line balance out in this economic environment. trying to get private insurance would cost more than most of us make in a month, and i've not seen a medical professional since 2003. So spare me the outrage over cost when the only reason you are privileged enough to have coverage is based on the opportunities you got in life, when 95% of americans do not get the same opportunities. (equal opportunity is a myth that hasn't truly ever existed, the affluent always receive more opportunities, but thats a different rant).
We the People. not we the businesses, or we the politicians, or we the affluent. We the people.
We deserve to be taken care of as well as the public officials that serve in the congress, and until that time, i say there should be no health coverage on the public dime for ANYONE in congress. pass that bill you leeches on society complaining about socialism!

And, Tzarlan-I'm sorry your son broke his glasses, but why should I have to pay for them? Tell you what-get a can, and knock on your neighbors's doors and ask for contribution for new glasses for your son. that is what you want, but you do not want the humiliation of doing it in person. You'd rather let the federal government do it for you.
no joe, no bo, nj (Sent Friday, June 19, 2009 4:10 PM) ************************************************* you miss the whole point entirely. i pay $8400 a year for insurance for these things, but the insurance company isn't providing the service i pay for.
i don't want the govt. to do it. i WANT THE INSURANCE COMPANY THAT I PAY EVERY 2 WEEKS TO PAY FOR THEM! if they don't have to honor their end of the bargain, why do i have to pay 20% of our household yearly income to them?
once again, conservative blowhards create straw man arguments to promote their ideologically driven propaganda.

no joe, no bo, nj (Sent Friday, June 19, 2009 4:10 PM) ****************************************************** Your last statement has pushed me to the point that i'm shaking mad.
in my 16 years in the workforce i've never taken a dime of assistance from the government, even when working 50+ hours a week while going to school full time with a wife who couldn't get a job in her field because of sexual discrimination. i've worked harder and sacrificed more to avoid needing assistance from anyone than some privileged little puke like you could ever understand.
So sit in your ivory tower thinking you know everything, all you are showing is that you have no clue what average americans go through daily. i've never wanted a penny from you, the government, or anyone in this world. What i want is those who don't have the drive, skills, and stubborn streak that i do to be taken care of too, because some of them CAN'T take care of themselves.
it's a different philosophy from your greed filled vision of the world, and i happily reject your assertion that "i shouldn't have to pay for it." you are nothing more than a sycophant to money, only caring about your own personal bank balance and stock portfolio (remember what Jesus said about Pharisees?). i could give two shits less about my bank balance if it meant that people in this country had health care, better education, and the ability to improve their lives. That is more fulfilling and important to everyone, not just the wealthy who do nothing but complain about money they have to spend.
you, and the entire philosophy that you represent, disgusts me.
